Experts:
We are using Veritas Backup Exec 10.0d to do backups of our servers all running Windows 2003 Server. We do 2 nightly backups, one for exchange and one for data which is pulled from 4 different servers. Backup Exec is installed on our DC in which we backup system files. Remote Agents are installed on our Exchange server to backup email mailboxes, a file server which is strictly data, a server which contains MAS data and a backup DC which contains some data.
We recently upgraded our MAS server for better performance which ran Windows 2000 Server and is now running Windows 2003 Server. Even before this upgrade all backups have been successful with an occasional error of some kind. It seems that whenever I try to install the Remote Agent to the new server, Veritas says that installation is successful but when I look in programs or add/remove programs, nothing is there for Backup Exec nor any of its components. I've tried doing it through both Tools-->Install Remote Agents in Backup Exec and in Add/Remove programs but neither troubleshooting technique has worked. We know that MAS wants to use port 10000 and we have made changes to use 9000 because Backup Exec also wants to use this port. The old MAS server is not being used anymore but is still connected to the network. Do you think this would have any effect?
This is the error that we have getting (I know this is due to the Remote Agent not being installed):
AOFO: Initialization failure on: 'new MAS serverC$'. Advanced Open File Option used: No.
Remote Agent not detected on new MAS server.
The Media Server was unable to connect to Remote Machine new MAS server.![Install Install](https://s1.manualzz.com/store/data/047055498_1-02e73b7204d7a8eb980a61053f7123d2.png)
The Media Server will fall back on the local agent to try and complete the operation.
I can't figure out why the Remote Agent and AOFO will not install on the new MAS server.
Thanks for any help and suggestions.
